Description

The Dog Whelk has a creamy white shell covered in rut-like grooves around the shell. It has a short pointed end. Shell up to 7.5 cm

The Dog Whelk is an active predator, which can sometimes be seen feeding on other snails, barnacles, mussels, sea squirts, or tube worms. It drills a hole in the shell of its prey and extracts the soft body.  They can live for 20 years.
