Description

The White-striped Anemone has a striped orange and white column with orange mouth parts and white tentacles. Column is up to 2 cm wide.

These small anemones form colonies on the underside of rocks. They cast off thin threads from minute openings in the column and/or mouth as a defence mechanism. These threads contain nematocysts (stinging cells) which they use to paralyse their prey.
