Description

Tufted Coralline Algae have pink, evenly divided branches. Reinforced with calcium carbonate this pink, delicate, feathery alga has a crunchy feel.

This red alga is one of the most common alga seen washed up on the intertidal reef. It forms mats of tufted thalli (branches) that have been bleached by exposure to sunlight, ranging from pink through to white.
