Scaly Limpet
Scientific Name: Patelloida alticostata
Description: Scaly Limpets are found on wave washed rocks and have distinctive ribs and a scalloped edge to the shell. They also graze on micro-algae. The gills of true limpets like these are hidden beneath their shell and stay moist using water trapped by the shell that clamps tightly to the rocks when exposed at low tide.
