Striated Fieldwren
Scientific Name: Calamanthus fuliginosus
Description: The brownish plumage has bold dark streaks on both the back and chest of the bird. It prefers saltmarsh or the coastal heath and dune vegetation.
A Striated Fieldwren will perch at the top of a bush with the tail cocked vertically, singing loudly to proclaim its territory. The song is loud for such a small bird. Usually feeds on insects but may eat seeds.
