Long-snouted Boarfish
Scientific Name: Pentaceropsis recurvirostris
Description: Long-snouted Boarfish are a large and distinctive black and white fish with large ‘spiky’ looking fins which are venomous and raised when alarmed. They have a tubular snout with a small mouth.
Resident Boarfish within the Marine Sanctuary are often seen in pairs. occasionally demonstrating courtship behaviours such as parallel swimming and turning.
Long-snouted Boarfish are one of the very few fish species to feed on brittle stars
