Herring Kale
Scientific Name: Olisthops cyanomelas
Description: Like most wrasses the Herring Cale changes both sex and colour throughout its life. Juveniles are greyish to brownish above, yellowish below, with dark brown blotches.
Mature females are similar but greener, and mature are males dark with bright blue stripes along the top.
They feed on large brown algae and are often seen darting around in the surge zone around kelp.
