Coast Fan-flower

Scientific Name: Scaevola albida

Description: These sprawling mat plants are known for their distinctive hemispherical fan flowers of five petals. In spring the plant is covered with clusters of small flowers, ranging in colour from snow white, though to pale blue or lilac. These tinged, fan-shaped flowers mix among small, fleshy, bright green leaves. This uncommon plant was named for the legendary Roman hero, Gaius Mucius Scaevola.
