The Red Notched Shore Crab is a large, very active, reddish crab with sharp points on its legs to help it cling to rocks in the wave zone. The carapace has four notches across the front and sharp spines on the side. Body width to 70 mm

Red Notched Crabs are active and aggressive carnivorous crabs, often dodging waves among the sea squirts and kelp of wave-beaten coasts.
