Description |
Bull Kelp is a massive cool water species that has a tough, solid frond that sinks as the waves recede. Its large holdfast allows it to stay attached to the edge of the rock platform and thrive where there is plenty of wave action. Up to 8m long
Beds of Bull Kelp can be seen at low tide at the edge of the rock platforms. It is the dominant seaweed at the low tide level and provides shelter among its holdfast for a number of echinoderms and other creatures. |
