Southern Calamari Squid
Scientific Name: Sepioteuthis australis
Description: Southern Calamari Squid are common in shallow waters around the Bluff and estuary and can sometimes be seen whilst snorkelling in sandy areas and over seagrass meadows. They are mainly active at night but can occasionally be seen during the day.
These squid feed on fish and shrimp and will regularly approach divers lights at night to catch fish attracted to the lights.
