Description: The Lowland Copperhead Snake lives in grassland, heathland, woodlands and open scrub. They can be found next to waters such as marshes, lagoons, swamps, lakes and rivers and are able to live in areas that are heavily disturbed. They have a coppery brown coloration of the head and sometimes the snout. They prey on insects, frogs, lizards and other snakes, as well as other copperheads making them cannibalistic. At times they will also prey upon birds and mammals. They are active during the day and on warm evenings, and give birth to live young.
