Waratah Anemone

Scientific Name: Actinia tenebrosa

Description: With its vibrant red colouration, the Waratah Anemone is one of the most conspicuous anemones amongst the rocks. While under water, these anemones extend their tentacles to capture food. When the tide has fallen anemones withdraw their tentacles, appearing as squishy red blobs, this helps reduce water loss from their soft bodies.
